My 1st Weaving Project - 3 day beginner workshop - Aug 2023

$320.00 USD
Payment options

Looking for the perfect beginning weaving class? This is the one! Beginning weavers will join Chris Acton to learn the entire process of dressing a loom using the front-to-back method, while creating a cotton, woven sampler on a multi-shaft loom. This workshop will provide each student with a roadmap of how to weave, and arm them with the steps necessary to start, weave, and finish a weaving project on their own.

Class will begin with an overview of the weaving process, along with vocabulary and tools. Then, as a class we’ll plan a project, measure the warp on a warping board, sley the reed, thread the heddles, wind on the project, and begin weaving. To wrap class up, we’ll discuss finishing techniques and how to confidently recreate the experience once they get home.

If students have a portable 4 or 8-shaft loom, they are encouraged to bring it to class (please bring a 12-dent reed if possible). If not, there are a few looms available at Three Moons - please call to reserve one for class. There will be a limited number of table looms available for purchase at the close of the workshop.
