Floor Loom Classes

Floor Looms may be used to make anything from rugs to fine fabrics. These are large looms that the weaver operates using both hands and feet. We have a large variety of floor looms in the studio, and endeavor to match the student to looms that fit the students body type and personality.

These classes are arranged one-to-one, based on your availability. Reach out to us to set up a time today! (If you are looking for upcoming workshops on other fiber themes, please click HERE.)

Pre-Warped Projects -

These projects are suitable for both brand new weavers and weavers with prior experience. Each of the projects takes ~3 hrs to complete, and you will learn the basics of floor loom weaving while completing the project. If you would prefer to come with a small group, please contact us ahead of time to check availability.

  • Studio Weaver refers to a weaver that has previously taken a beginner weaver class, or has been specifically authorized by us to be a studio weaver.

Individual projects - cost as detailed below

  • Once a weaver has completed a pre-warped project (or otherwise has permission to be a studio weaver), the weaver can reserve a studio loom on a project by project basis. These projects typically comprise 3 phases:
  1. Project Planning - this encompasses selecting the fibers, patterns, colors, and loom appropriate for the project you would like to complete, along with calculating the amount of warp and weft needed. We can help you through every step of this planning for a $25 charge, or if a weaver feels comfortable planning on their own, they are more than welcome to do so.
  2. Warping - we can warp the loom for you (there is a $0.20/end charge), or we can teach you how to warp ($150 charge). If a weaver feels comfortable warping on their own, there is a $15/day studio fee for the day(s) the student is warping.
  3. Weaving - there is a $15/day studio fee for each day the weaver is in the studio weaving. These days do not need to be consecutive, but we do ask that weavers work diligently on their projects because others may be waiting to use the loom.
